About Our Lab

Generative AI (GenAI) Lab at Osaka University focuses on generative AI for science, specializing in AI-driven drug discovery and medical innovation. We aim to develop reliable, efficient, and interpretable AI solutions to advance biomedical and pharmaceutical research, ultimately improving human health. Our work explores cutting-edge applications of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI in medicine and drug development. Key areas include molecular generation, de novo drug design, scaffold-based functional group generation, biomedical data augmentation, and explainable AI for healthcare. By harnessing state-of-the-art AI, we strive to revolutionize therapeutic discovery and medical research with both scientific depth and real-world impact.

• August 5th, 2026 Congratulations to us! We have successfully secured the bid to host IEEE ICDM 2029 in Osaka. After 27 years, ICDM is returning to Japan!

• August 1st, 2026 Our collaborative paper with Nagoya University has been published in the Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling. Congratulations to Matsukiyo-san!

• July 21, 2026 We are delighted to announce that we will chair ADMA 2027. CFP will be released soon.

• July 16, 2026 I have been appointed as the Proceeding Chair for DASFAA 2027.

• June 1st, 2026 Our one paper has been accepted to the ECML-PKDD-26 main track.

• May 18, 2026 Our one paper was accepted by Machine Learning.

• February 25, 2026 I have been elevated to IEEE Senior Member.

• January 15, 2026 I have been appointed as an Area Chair for IEEE ICDM 2026.

• January 14, 2026 Our one paper was accepted by Information Fusion (IF: 15,5).

• October 24, 2025  The ADMA 2025 conference was held in Kyoto and concluded successfully.

• September 30, 2025  I was invited to give a talk at Hainan University, Haikou.

• September 24, 2025  We had an exchange activity with the Yamanishi Laboratory at the Graduate School of Informatics, Nagoya University.

• September 2nd, 2025  I was invited to give a talk at Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan.

• August 30th, 2025  I was invited to give a talk at South China Normal University, Guangzhou.

• August 1st, 2025   Our one paper has been accepted to the Machine Intelligence Research (IF: 8.7).

• July 27, 2025  Invited to attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and delivered a speech as a guest speaker. 

• May 28, 2025  Our one paper has been accepted to the ECML-PKDD-25 main track (Acceptance rate: 24%).

• April 30, 2025  Our one paper has been accepted to the IJCAI-25 main track (Acceptance rate: 19%).

• February 27, 2025  I am seeking PhD and Master's students to join our team.

• February 1st, 2025  I have been serving as an Associate Professor at Osaka University.
